Synthesisers are probably one of the world's most versatile musical instruments - Synthesisers, or synthesizers, as spelt the American way, are electronic instruments used to reproduce, combine, and varying sounds of musical instruments or 'voices' using a keyboard. It can use a wide variety of sounds by generating and combining signals of different frequencies.
While synthesisers often look similar to a keyboard, they are different. This is because they can mimic any instrument via the controls on these amazing keyboards! Pressing a key generates an electrical signal that is converted into acoustic waves. These, in turn, are transmitted through loudspeakers, either integrated in the instrument itself or via an external mixer and amplifier. In this way, the sound is then produced. A synthesiser electronically generates and modifies sounds, and it allows you to control the sounds using the controls on the synthesizer's keyboard - The sky's the limit!
